These treats made with Rice Krispies don’t have marshmallow, like you’d find in the original recipe (see that here!), but they’re no less indulgent.

Originally called Choco-Scotch clusters when they came out in the 60s, these easy no-bake Chocolate-butterscotch rice krispies treats have delicious chocolate, butterscotch and peanut butter flavors.

The retro recipe from Kellogg’s made 48 very small treats (about one tablespoon each), but we usually double the size of each one.

The vintage inspiration: Choco-Scotch clusters recipe from 1967

You make ’em nice and crunchy with Kellogg’s Rice Krispies… and lusciously rich with Nestle’s chocolate and butterscotch morsels.

Originally called Choco-Scotch clusters when they came out in the 60s, these easy no-bake treats have chocolate, butterscotch and peanut butter flavors.

The retro recipe from Kellogg's made 48 very small treats (about one tablespoon each), but we usually double the size of each one.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 4 cups Kellogg's Rice Krispies

Instructions

  1. Melt chocolate chips, butterscotch chips and peanut butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until well blended.
  2. Remove from heat and add Rice Krispies; stir until well-coated.
  3. Drop by tablespoons onto wax paper or buttered cookie sheets. Let them stand in a cool place until firm (about 1-2 hours, depending on room temperature).
  4. Makes about 4 dozen cookies (aka confections/treats), 1-1/2 inches in diameter.

Notes

Note: Mixture may be pressed into buttered 9x9-inch pan, if desired. Cut into squares when firm.
