HonorHealth is the first healthcare system in Arizona using Fiber Optic RealShape (FORS) technology to treat patients with complex aortic aneurysms. Henry Huynh’s decade-plus active military duty will end this July. HonorHealth’s Skillbridge program is helping to guide his transition to a new mission as a logistics lead at Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center.“The Skillbridge program has helped me to find experience in the healthcare setting,” Henry says. “Everyone has been so welcoming, sharing stories with me on how things may be different and how I’m not alone.”Henry was paired with Dave Potts, BSN, Air Force IDMT (Ret.), clinical director, Employee Health, who is a veteran of 24 years. As Henry’s “Battle Buddy”, Dave acts as a mentor with a similar background.“The transition into a less defined structure can be challenging to navigate without guidance,” Dave explains. “I see this as one way for me to give support and possible guidance to the greatest assets the military has, its people.”Henry’s also joined the V.E.T.S. People Resource Group, another HonorHealth resource to support our team members. Like in the military, people are our greatest asset and helping each other is what we do at HonorHealth.

She is tasked with strategic leadership over our quality, patient safety, clinical effectiveness and care coordination initiatives. She oversees inpatient and outpatient programs in highly reliable value-based care delivery and guides the integration of evidence-based practice across all aspects of clinical care. A blessing is probably not how many would describe being a nurse during a pandemic. But for Andrew, a clinical nurse on the Neurology Care Unit at HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center, he felt it was.“Being a new nurse during the middle of the pandemic was a challenge,” Andrew says. “But it also provided me with many opportunities to experience things I might have otherwise not done, as well as a renewed appreciation for the impact nurses can have on their patients and communities.”New opportunities keep coming for Andrew, and he loves it. He worked on Deer Valley’s recently submitted Magnet document; is chair of the Deer Valley IPPC working with the Unit Based Councils to discuss, assess and improve all aspects of patient care across the campus; and is a principal investigator on a nursing research study in collaboration with ASU.Andrew accomplished amazing things personally and professionally as a nursing grad in the middle of the pandemic… a shining example of silver linings during stormy times.#NationalNursesWeek
