The heat is beating down, the kids are splashing in the pool and the last thing you want to think about is dinner. The next to last thing is being inside in the kitchen, burning up over a hot stove while everyone else is outside having fun. I don’t have a pool but we have a water slide and sprinklers and water balloons that make me want to be out playing instead of slaving over whatever food I am going to serve. I turn to the grill more times over the summer than I care to admit. In fact, it is time for me to get a new grill, as mine has been used so much it is on it’s last leg. The best part of the grill, for me anyway, is that I can make favorites like Bison Steak, Asparagus and Potatoes and Onions while still being a part of the action outdoors. Now, though, with NEW KC Masterpiece® BBQ Sauce Mix & Dry Rub, I can create the amazing flavor KC Masterpiece is famous for in either a BBQ Sauce, dry rub OR marinade without having to pull out every spice I own! Seriously, this is one of the most versatile seasoning products I have seen in awhile. With the sun shining, the kids playing and the desire to be outside on a Sunday afternoon brewing, I seasoned up some Bison Steak, Potatoes and Onions and Grilled Asparagus with NEW KC Masterpiece® BBQ Sauce Mix & Dry Rub and served up a meal any chef would be proud of!

Note to self: From 6/18 to 8/31 you can get $1.00 of 1 KC Masterpiece Dry Rub using this coupon.

Now I have a little secret when it comes to grilling, especially if your grill grate is starting to show real signs of wear like mine. Pull out your cast iron grill skillet and put it right on the grill for the perfect steak with the flavor of a cookout any day of the week. I find that this not only keeps in the juices of the steak better, but I get better grill marks that make me feel like a steak master! Just season your cast iron grill pan with some high heat olive oil and get cookin’! You still get that enhancing flavor of the outdoor smokey grill and the thrill of outdoor cooking with the benefits of a skillet.

Grilled Bison Steak is so easy and will soon become your go-to steak after you try it. Not only is it leaner than other steaks, but the flavor can not be beat. So while at Kroger picking up my KC Masterpiece® BBQ Sauce Mix & Dry Rub in the condiment aisle, I swung by the meat department and picked up the Kroger brand of bison steak. They come in 6 ounce portions and are perfect for one person. The flavor is unmatched and I rarely buy anything else anymore!

Home again with some asparagus, potatoes and onions, my bison steak and KC Masterpiece® BBQ Sauce Mix & Dry Rub, I got to work prepping for my afternoon meal while watching the kids play on the water slide. This is a GREAT meal for a meal kit too. Prep it earlier in the day, put in in the fridge on a cookie sheet and then pull it out when you are ready to grill!

Turn on or start your grill so that you have the perfect temperature when you are are ready to go!

Prep the bison steak by pulling the KC Masterpiece® BBQ Sauce Mix & Dry Rub out of the package and using one packet as a dry rub. I did not need the entire packet for my to steaks but make sure you rub all sides of it for maximum flavor. With the KC Masterpiece® BBQ Sauce Mix & Dry Rub Sweet Honey flavor, I poured a packet into a bowl, added 3/4 cups of soda, stirred and set my sweet and tangy bbq sauce aside. I love how easy this was. I also love that I could have added any liquid I wanted to change up the flavor a little. Like orange juice, beer and even coffee! That is the magic of this product. You can use it and change it up to match any flavor you want, and two pouches makes a full 16 oz of BBQ sauce!

Now that my steak was seasoned and my bbq sauce was made, I prepped my side dishes. To enhance the asparagus a little, I added some of the dry KC Masterpiece® BBQ Sauce Mix & Dry Rub to a few tablespoons of butter. Not only is it an awesome addition to the asparagus, melting and fusing with the vegetable as it grills, but it is also an amazing topping for the bison steak! Wrap the prepped asparagus in tin foil and it is ready for the grill.

That done, I turned to my potatoes and onions. Just cut the potatoes and the onions and toss them on a sheet of tin foil. Add some salt and pepper and a little KC Masterpiece® BBQ Sauce Mix & Dry Rub Original flavor. Drizzle with olive oil, wrap it up on the tin foil and it is ready for the grill. The potatoes take a good 25 minutes on a hot grill. So start them before your bison steak and asparagus.

When it is time to grill, grab your prepped meal kit and head to the grill! Start your potatoes first and place your cast iron skillet on the grill, oiled well, at the same time. About 12 minutes in for the potatoes, add your bison steak to the sizzling hot skillet. Be sure to be careful. These skillets, handles and all, get very, very hot! For a medium rare steak, cook on one side about 7 minutes. When you flip it, add the asparagus packet to the grill. Then finish cooking everything another 5-7 minutes. Let the steak ‘rest’ on the plate for about 5 minutes to hold in the juices.

You know the potatoes are done when they are soft to a fork. The asparagus will look slightly wilted and the steak will be brown on all sides.

It is time to serve up this amazing Grilled Bison Steak meal! When plated, add a pat of the same seasoned butter you used on the asparagus for an extra creamy bite of bison steak! If guests don’t want the added butter, have them dip their steak in the KC Masterpiece® BBQ Sweet Honey Sauce!

I promise you, this meal is gourmet to the nines! The flavor of the KC Masterpiece® BBQ Sauce Mix & Dry Rub Sweet Honey and Original flavors fuses this meal together like a 5 star restaurant. The compliments will rain down on you for hours!

I have to still use the KC Masterpiece® BBQ Sauce Mix & Dry Rub to marinate… I told you it was versatile… and have a chicken recipe that can only be enhanced by it! Be sure to pick up all of the ingredients you need for this amazing meal at Kroger! You will LOVE it!
